Question on mapping PROMs and rehabilitation measurements

Dear OHDSI community,

I am reaching out on behalf of Ruud Selles and myself as chairs of the OHDSI rehabilitation working group.

Our group has identified some barriers for using OHDSI tools in rehabilitation with regards to unavailability of standardized vocabularies and complicated mapping of PROMs and rehabilitation measurements to the CDM. Almost all relevant parameters are mapped to the ‘observations’ or ‘measurements’ domains.

We were wondering if anyone has run into similar issues, and has found a solution?

We are looking for someone willing to present their experiences in this regard during our next WG meeting.

Kind regards,

Ruud Selles and Esther Janssen

@Esther_Janssen:

What is the problem or the barrier? What is your use case? That your survey is not available as a standardized vocabulary? You can bring it in no problem.

@Esther_Janssen,

You may want to reach out to @Andrew - he leads the Psychiatry Working Group. The group is doing some work around neuropsychiatric assessment instruments.

It also sounds like there is some work happening in a survey working group (see discussion linked below).

Best,
Piper

Thank you @Piper-Ranallo, I will reach out to them!

Dear @Christian_Reich,

Thank you for your reply.
It is not so much about a single case, as it is about rehabilitation in general. There are many PROMs and rehabilitation measures that, at the moment, we cannot map, and also lacking of standardization our field.
We were wondering how other fields go about setting up a vocabulary, how they fit them into the CDM or have thought of different solutions to these issue. Maybe we should go about is on a case by case basis?
However, I think a more generalized approach by the field would make more sense in terms of standardization and facilitating reuse in the future.
