What -omics vocabularies are you using?

I’m curious what vocabularies others are using for their -omics data? And how that relates to OMOP? Create extensions of the CDM?

I’m a healthcare informatics student trying to figure this all out. So thank you for your help!

@MPhilofsky:

Omics data aren’t incorporated here, yet.

Not sure what you mean. What relates to OMOP?

@Christian_Reich

I’m wondering what terminologies people are using right now in their home-grown system for their -omics data. And why one terminology is better than the other options? What terminology/vocabulary will OMOP use for -omics data? Is there an idea? Is there a timeline?

Sorry I wasn’t clear.
Are extensions being created for -omics since it is not yet a part of OMOP? Or is the -omics data just being held until OMOP incorporates the -omics data into the CDM?

Thanks!

@MPhilofsky:

The answer is no. There are quite a few people who have asked “Have you done omics (usually genomics)?”, but nobody has stepped up and started the effort. We need a person who would like to do that, and who has data that could be used to check out our ideas.

Do you? :smile:

@Christian_Reich

Who, me? No, I don’t have any data or time or knowledge to start such a project. I’m finishing my MS in healthcare informatics. Currently, I am working on providing terminology harmonization and mapping solutions for an EDW. Knowing genomics is in the future for them, I was hoping to provide some guidance based on the OMOP standardized vocabulary.

Once I figure out my career path, I may be back to jump in and help out. :grinning:
