Welcome to OHDSI! - Please introduce yourself

Hello, everyone! My name is Raphael Federicci Haddad. I am a physician with a deep-rooted passion for healthcare informatics and research, currently engaged in big data research at Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein in Brazil. My work revolves around leveraging big data to uncover insights that can drive improvements in patient care and healthcare processes. Having completed the Program in Clinical Effectiveness (PPCR) at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health last year, my commitment to advancing healthcare research has only grown stronger.

My interest in health informatics has led me to delve into the OMOP Common Data Model, exploring its potential to revolutionize healthcare research in Brazil and beyond. As I continue to explore the vast possibilities of OMOP, I aim to contribute to the OHDSI community by sharing my insights and findings, fostering international collaborations, and possibly contributing through running studies, and authoring research papers. I am eager to learn from and collaborate with fellow OHDSI members to push the boundaries of what we can achieve together in health research.

Outside of my professional endeavors, I am an avid enthusiast of technology and its potential to transform healthcare. I look forward to contributing to our collective efforts to improve health outcomes globally and am excited to engage with the OHDSI.

Hello everyone!

I’m Suhyun Kim, a Ph.D. trainee and a student at Seoul National University Hospital and Seoul National University resp. (studying statistics and medical informatics).

The 2023 OHDSI Global Conference was quite enlightening, and it was great to connect with so many dedicated people.

I’m eager to contribute in various ways and hope to both offer and receive support as we all advance in our research endeavors. I’m looking forward to collaborating and sharing insights with everyone here.

Thank you for the warm welcome, and I’m excited to engage further with this community.

Harry Hochheiser, Associate Professor of Biomedical Informatics at the University of Pittsburgh.

In collaboration with Guergana Savova and Jeremy Warner, I am working on a project entitled “Cancer Deep Phenotype Extraction from Electronic Medical Records”. Our goal is to use NLP to extract rich summaries of cancer patient progression, and to provide visual analytics tools that combine this data with structured data in support of cohort identification.

To meet these goals, we are thinking about how to convert our structured data from multiple institutions into appropriate OMOP formats, and how to represent details extracted via NLP in OMOP. I would welcome any discussion/insights on either of these challenges.

Hello!

I recently graduated from a health informatics master’s program. Prior to this, I worked for many years as an ultrasound technologist. Before that, I worked as a journalist.

I’m hoping to learn a lot from being part of the OHDSI community, and I hope to help in any way that I can.

Hi my name is Jacqueline and I am a PhD candidate in the United States. I am a clinical translational scientist focusing on understudied neuro-ophthalmic diseases including idiopathic intracranial hypertension. I use a lot of bioinformatics, epidemiology, and machine learning practices in my research!
Would love to connect!

I’m Catherine Mahoney, joining from the Pharmacoepidemiology team at Eli Lilly. I’m based in our Cork, Ireland office. My background is in statistics and bioinformatics, and I just finished my PhD in statistical genetics at University College Dublin. I had such a great time at the EU Symposium that I can’t wait to get more involved with some of the working groups, especially the new GenAI working group. I’m equally interested in methods development and technical ETL problems, and looking forward to learning more from colleagues in pharma and across the many contributors.

Hi all,
I’m Jae-Won and I’m trying to learn more about OHDSI CDM so we can transform our EHR data onto it.
Any guidance on where to start would be wonderful!
I’m currently watching the recording of OHDSI2023 Tutorial here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7-T9a8I1uN8

Hello everyone! My name is Luisa Martinez and I’m a data scientist with clinical background. I have just started working as a Postdoctoral scientist at J&J Innovative Medicine department. I will be involved in OMOP related projects so I am rigth now taking some of the OHDSI courses and reviewing the resources. I am looking forward to join the community and learn from one another!! Hope to be in touch!

Hello @assarabbiya and welcome to OHDSI!

I highly suggest you start with EHDEN Academy. The first course you should take is OMOP CDM and Standardized Vocabularies. Make sure you have a thorough understanding of the content before moving on to the Infrastructure; Extract, Transform and Load; Introduction to Usagi Code Mappings and for an ETL.

The Health Systems Interest Group on MS Teams assists health systems and you can also post specific questions to the CDM Builders group on the forums.

Hi, I am Seung Wook (“Wook”) Lee, who is a second-year resident in Internal Medicine with background in Biomedical Engineering. I am deeply interested and agree with approach of the OHDSI community in standardization of the EHR data and utilization of the standardized data in clinical research. My research interest varies, but uttermost interest lies in utilization of clinical data for better health maintenance in an outpatient setting. Of course, I love building regression/deep learning models so any kind of activities involving clinical analytics triggers my interest :))

@Seung_Wook_Lee,

Welcome! Let’s connect and exchange the approach for regression & deep learning models.

@Lui Welcome to the OHDSI community!

Let’s connect and explore the potential synergies.

Greetings everyone! My name is Darren W Henderson. I am a Database Admin at the University of Kentucky Center for Clinical and Translational Science (https://www.ccts.uky.edu/) and Institute for Biomedical Informatics (https://www.research.uky.edu/IBI). We have been an ACT/SHRINE i2b2 site since ~2011, and have participated in N3C/4ce, and other federated projects.

We are starting our journey with ODHSI. So far we are working through the CDM documentation as best we can, and have been trying to use some codebase shared on the EPIC forums to ETL clarity/caboodle into the CDM, but could really use some direction on best practices to achieve that goal. We would also welcome any discussions with other sites on their approach to mapping other legacy systems to the CDM.

Thank you.

Hi Nick,
Bike in the mountain sound great
I’m writing to express my keen interest in collaborating on a research project that leverages the unique capabilities of the Israeli national hospital OMOP data-lake.
My name is Guy Livne, head of Health Informatics at the Directorate of medical centers at the Israel ministry of health.
Recently we established a unique OMOP CDM project combine 6 medical centers EHR data, offering a vast array of medical data on a diverse population.

What sets the Kineret data-lake apart:
Extensive coverage: The database provides a comprehensive view of a diverse population, including both urban and rural populations, and spans all age groups.
Data diversity: The database includes FULL EHR data with a comprehensive range of medical data, enabling in-depth analysis of risk factors, treatment outcomes, and the impact of lifestyle on health.
Research potential: The unique characteristics of the database open the door to a wide range of research, from outcomes research to genomic studies.

Collaboration with practice Medical stuff: Every medical informatics study needs a professional physician to “see the all picture”, and a collaborative medical center to make it practice to use.

Saying all the above, we are seeking for research collaboration with other OMOP organization, our data is align with the OHDSI standard and using OHDSI tools and other methods for research.
If this of your interest, I would be happy to schedule a call to discuss the potential benefits of this collaboration and explore the possibilities.

For more information see Page | kineret.

Looking forward,

Best Regards,

Guy
