WEEKLY COMMUNITY CALL MEETING

Please join our Sept. 10 (11 am ET) community call for a session focused on updates from our Asia-Pacific (APAC) collaborators. We will hear about recent research, collaborations and the upcoming APAC Symposium (Dec. 4-8 in Singapore) from leads of six OHDSI regional chapters:

• Congratulations to the team of Ahmed Elhussein, Ulugbek Baymuradov, NYGC ALS Consortium, Noémie Elhadad, Karthik Natarajan and Gamze Gürsoy on the publication on A framework for sharing of clinical and genetic data for precision medicine applications in Nature Medicine.

OHDSI UPDATES

The team of Liwei Wang, Andrew Wen, Sunyang Fu, Xiaoyang Ruan, Ming Huang, Rui Li, Qiuhao Lu, Andrew E Williams, and Hongfang Liu posted Adoption of the OMOP CDM for Cancer Research using Real-world Data: Current Status and Opportunities on a preprint server and seek community feedback.

• The team of Noah Jones, Ming-Chieh Shih, Elizabeth Healey, Chen Wen Zhai, Sonali Advani, Aaron Smith-McLallen, David Sontag, and Sanjat Kanjilal posted Adoption of the OMOP CDM for Cancer Research using Real-world Data: Current Status and Opportunities on a preprint server and seek community feedback.

Nominations for the 2024 Titan Awards are due this Friday, Sept. 13. The Titan Awards recognize OHDSI collaborators (or collaborating institutions) for their contributions towards OHDSI’s mission; they are nominated and voted upon by members of the community.

• The next edition of the CBER BEST Seminar Series will be held the Wednesday, Sept. 11 (11 am – 12 pm). We are excited to welcome Martí Català Sabaté, Medical Statistician and Data Scientist at the University of Oxford, who will provide a presentation on “Observational methods for COVID-19 vaccine effectiveness research: an empirical evaluation and target trial emulation.” You can use this link to join the session.

• The 2024 OHDSI Asia-Pacific (APAC) Symposium will be held December 4-8 in Singapore. Regional co-chairs Mengling ‘Mornin’ Feng and Ngial Kee Yuan will lead this event, which has a theme of “When OHDSI Meets with AI.” Registration information will be posted when available.

OHDSI GLOBAL SYMPOSIUM

Registration is now open for the 2024 Global Symposium , which will be held Oct. 22-24 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in New Brunswick, N.J., USA. The three-day event will feature tutorials on Day 1, plenaries and the collaborator showcase on Day 2, and workgroup activities on Day 3.

• Day 1 will open with a single tutorial in the morning: An Introduction to the Journey from Data to Evidence using OHDSI. There will be four advanced tutorials during the afternoon: Developing and Evaluating Your Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) Process to the OMOP Common Data Model; So, You Think You Want To Run an OHDSI Network Study?; and Using the OHDSI Standardized Vocabularies for Research. You can select your tutorials during the registration process.
