• The Nov. 14 OHDSI call will welcome our Collaborator Showcase Best Contribution winners to present their work and take questions from the community. Congratulations to the following honorees:

• The latest edition of The Journey newsletter is now available, and it includes information on the OHDSI Symposium, recent community updates, publications/presentations from October, and plenty more. You can access the newsletter here, and you can subscribe to receive future newsletters here.
• Atif Adam is a systems scientist and researcher boasting over a decade of diversified experience spanning academia, industry, and entrepreneurial ventures. He attained his doctorate in Health Systems Science and Computational Epidemiology. In addition, Dr. Adam completed his clinical training in Internal Medicine and secured master’s degrees in Health Policy and Spatial Epidemiology. Relatively new to the community, he has taken a leadership role within the Health Equity workgroup, and he joined both the Steering Group and 2023 Scientific Review committee. He discusses his career journey, challenges in health equity and how OHDSI is dealing with them, advice for newcomers in OHDSI, and plenty more in the latest Collaborator Spotlight.
• The latest edition of the Our Journey annual report was shared at the Global Symposium, but there is a digital version that you can access on the OHDSI website.
• Research from both the 2023 Global Symposium Collaborator Showcase can be viewed on the Global Symposium Showcase page. Research is also being shared daily on OHDSI’s LinkedIn, Twitter/X and Instagram feeds as part of the #OHDSISocialShowcase. Below are posters (with study leads) that are featured this week:

• The new Community Dashboard is available on OHDSI.org. The dashboard includes tracking sites for publications, YouTube videos, EHDEN Academy courses, network studies, the phenotype explorer, and opportunities.
HADES Developer Announcements
• Martijn Schuemie announced the release of SeflControlledCaseSeries 5.0.0. This major release is focused on adjusting for temporal trends. Some important innovations: 1) Better diagnostic for temporal stability; 2) Option to automatically restrict study time to when the drug was on the market (i.e. the time it was observed in the database); and 3) Ability to define multiple study periods. The main use case is excluding the time of the COVID-19 pandemic, when most clinical events show temporal instability.
• Egill Fridgeirsson announced the release of DeepPatientLevelPrediction 2.0.1. This is mostly a bug fix release and improvements to the documentation based on feedback from the HADES hackathon.
• Katy Sadowski announced the release of DataQualityDashboard 2.5.0. This release contains a new function contributed by Jared Houghtaling. The new function, writeDBResultsToJson, can be used to export DQD results from a database table into a JSON file. This release also contains some bugfixes including fixing some queries that were broken for users who store their vocab in a separate schema from the CDM, and allowing DQD to run even if the CDM_SOURCE table has multiple rows (previously it was throwing an error).
• Gowtham Rao announced the release of CohortExplorer 0.1.0. There is new functionality that adds a ‘Feature Cohort’ domain based on instantiated cohorts. This is useful for case adjudication. Use case example: look for 1 symptom cohort of dyspnea vs every concept for dyspnea while adjudicating a pneumonia cohort.

• Ajit Londhe recently posted that Boehringer Ingelheim is hiring for two positions: (1) Director, Real World Data & Analytics - Data Domain Owner (this position will lead acquisition strategy for real-world data sources for possible in-license/ purchase and additional analytical tools for in-house analytic needs across the organization … responsible for oversight of operational governance tasks & real-world data life cycle governance … US-based, remote location); and (2) Real World Evidence Data Engineer (IT position supporting RWE teams’ technology needs, including OHDSI stack support … based in Spain only).
• Yuan Lu, Assistant Professor at Yale University, announced an opening for a Postdoctoral Associate/Data Analyst at the Yale University School of Medicine. This person will work on the LEGEND Hypertension Project. More information, including job description, key responsibilities and qualifications, are available here.
