Dear OHDSI community,
It is with both disappointment and optimism that we are announcing today that the 2020 OHDSI Symposium, scheduled for Oct. 18-21, will be held virtually. As a community that works collaboratively to generate evidence that promotes better health decisions and better care, we feel that this is the most appropriate and responsible decision for our global network.
It is an annual highlight when we can all come together to share and celebrate our research accomplishments, plan for future work, and simply enjoy each other’s company, so the disappointment in losing the face-to-face element of the OHDSI Symposium is real and understandable. However, one of the biggest takeaways from our COVID-19 Symposium in March is that the OHDSI community can do amazing things in a virtual setting, and we plan to do so once again in October.
From the 2020 theme to planned activities over the four days, and to ensuring that community feel we all enjoy so much, there are MANY details to work through as we plan the upcoming U.S. Symposium. Some details have been decided, and we are excited to announce that there will still be a collaborator showcase.
Registration for the symposium will open June 1 and abstract submissions will open shortly after so please keep an out of the announcement that they have opened. As more decisions are made, they will be announced on the OHDSI Forums, OHDSI.org and the social platforms. We are confident that we will make this another spectacular event, so we hope you will block those days on your calendar and get excited for another celebration of our OHDSI community.
