UB04 Pt dis status codes in 100+ range - What is the source?

I’m not an expert in this area, but I was reviewing vocabularies and data within our team and was challenged on the source for the ten (10) UB04 Pt dis status codes above 99. Concept_ID 32598 - 32607

We could not find another source that offered these codes and it appeared ‘UB04 Pt dis status’ does not accommodate more than two digits.

All told, they are not likely critical values for our work, but I could not explain the discrepancy or identify additional support. I also know these are non-standard within the OMOP CDM.

Thanks!

Thanks for pointing this out, that should be looked into. So far I can only theorize that could have something to do with ‘reserved’ codes in UB04 Pt dis

@samart3: We could probably dig and find out who had those in their data. But why do you care? Somebody has a funny code. And now what?

@Christian_Reich I had similar thought before I posted. Decided to post for two reasons:

  1. I’m building OMOP / OHDSI credibility within my org and was challenged (appropriately) about these codes.

  2. I couldn’t find any other source with them, and some indication that the underlying vocab didn’t support 3-digits for that code.

All told, unlikely we would receive the codes from source date, so potentially no harm. Even then it didn’t sit well – especially if there was an easy answer in the forum.
