Standard Method for Recording Antihypertensive Drug Intake

Hello everyone,

We are mapping a registry and have some information on certain therapies. Specifically, we have data like “Does the patient take antihypertensive drugs? Yes/No.”
The only concepts I found in Athena to represent antihypertensive drugs are Classification concepts (e.g. Athena), which cannot be used as drug_concept_id.
I’d like to know if there is a standard way to document drug intake when no additional details are available, as in this case.

Thank you very much to anyone who can help!

@vramella:

Not really. Because how do you use that data? What’s the use case? Give me all the patients that have antihypertensives? Which drugs belong to those? Do we know?

Yes, data are valuable, but we need data we can interpret across patient populations and apply to use cases and scientific questions. If you are doing one-on-one patient care you have different needs.

So far, we haven’t had anybody present a valid use case. Till then, I’d say just drop the information.
