The smoking/alcohol intake information (in the condition/measurement/observation tables) in the OMOP dataset I use is not complete with a great proportion of missing probably because I focused on relatively young population and they were seldom asked about these information.
I was wondering if researchers also use other methods to indirectly measure patients’ smoking or alcohol intake status, e.g. COPD diagnosis. I also tried “nicotine dependence” or “alcoholism” while they refer to heavy smoker or drinker.
