I am new to OHDSI and would appreciate guidance on how to begin a project related to LVAD patients and adverse outcomes.
Our broader research goal to study outcomes after LVAD implantation, especially bleeding events and thrombosis. We are interested in understanding what clinical factors, diagnoses, procedures, medications, or other patient-level features may be associated with these outcomes. I am trying to understand what public or synthetic OMOP CDM data resources are available for initial testing. I have looked into Eunomia and HADES, but I don’t think Eunomia contains any LVAD-related patients.
My main question is:
Are there any public, synthetic, or sample OMOP CDM datasets that could be used for an initial feasibility check for LVAD-related studies?
LVAD implantation is indeed very specific procedure, usually performed only in specialized cardiac centers.
I am not aware of any public OMOP CDM datasets that contain these data on a large scale. However, there is ongoing work in the community that might help you. An OMOP CDM expansion [1], [2] has been developed to accommodate extracorporeal data into OMOP CDM. The work has been done in collaboration with ELSO and based on ELSO Registry. Although it explicitly excludes LVAD data for now, it may still be worth reviewing, as the work is ongoing.

There may also be an opportunity to connect with people who can access data from the pediatric ACTION Network (I am unaware if the data is OMOPed).
