Question on Mapping Condition_Occurrence Data

Hi,
In the source data we have both ICD codes and description of the condition. There are sometimes mismatch between the ICD values and the description, sometimes ICD values are not present but the description of the condition is present. In essence I am not able to trust the ICD values in the source data. I use the description to find OMOP standard concepts in the concept table. Can I map the description to the “condition_source_value” in Condition_Occurrence instead of the ICD codes.

You could, if you feel that is the best representation of what the record is conveying. As long as the condition source concept id and then ultimately condition concept id are mapping correctly, then OHDSI tools won’t care about the condition source value; that field is just for maintaining provenance of the records.
