PROCEDURE_OCCURRENCE - multiple OPCS4 codes per visit

Hi Everyone,

I’m new to the CDM, so please bare with me. I’m currently designing the ETL for the PROCEDURE_OCCURRENCE table for outpatient attendances who have had a procedure (NHS - so multiple OPCS4 codes) . I would like to understand whether all instances of an OPCS4 code (they are all unique per visit) should appear independently in the table or just the primary procedure?

For example:

Patient A visited outpatients on 01/04/2025 and had the following OPCS4 recorded against their visit:

Primary OPCS - X62.1 ASSESSMENT BY UNIPROFESSIONAL TEAM NEC

2nd OPCS - M47.3 REMOVAL OF URETHRAL CATHETER FROM BLADDER

3rd OPCS - U26.4 URODYNAMICS NEC

4th OPCS - ULTRASOUND OF BLADDER

Many thanks

Hello @Helen_Rooney_WWL and welcome to OHDSI!

Bring in all the procedure codes which a person had and map them to concept_ids.
Just don’t bring in canceled procedures. The OMOP CDM is centered on the person and the conditions and treatments they received.

That’s helpful - thank you
