Procedure concept codes for research study

I am working on the codes for the peripheral angioplasty - amputation study we discussed the other day. I want to ensure that my use of standard vs non-standard codes is correct.

I am basing my actual selections off CPT codes, which are non-standard. So am I correct that I would use the ‘CPT4-SNOMED eq’ relationship_id in concept_relationship to get the desired SNOMED codes, then build the full concept list by retrieving all descendants of those SNOMED codes using the concept_ancestor table?

I imagine reviewing the SNOMED codes directly might be a better practice, but it is helpful to look at CPT coding recommendations for these procedures put out by various professional organizations.

Thanks,
Jon

CPT4 is standard and should be used for defining procedure conceptsets.

Hmmm, well I should say that some CPT procedure codes that are on my list are marked as non-standard (or at least are not marked with S in the STANDARD_CONCEPT field in my local version of the V5 vocabulary). Apologies if these have been resolved via other discussions on the forum and the vocab has been updated.
