Hello all!
The past few years the Population Level Estimation Workgroup has mostly been operating underground. Now, we want to open up the workgroup and start having regular meetings. Some of the topics we’d like to discuss are:
- Overview of the current methods library: what is missing? (method development)
- Evaluation of methods
- Best practices for estimation studies (a continuation of this discussion )
- How to present and interpret results from estimation studies (what is the use of p-values? Should be produce posterior distributions instead? Empirical calibration? Etc.)
- Training on methods
- Whatever comes up for discussion
We would like to give people from across the globe the opportunity to join these calls. Hence we’re splitting them up. One week will be the ‘Western hemisphere’: Europe & the Americas, the other week will be the ‘Eastern hemisphere’: Asia Pacific.
The first Population Level Estimation Workgroup meeting this year will take place on Wednesday March 30, and this will be a Western Hemisphere meeting:
- 6pm Central European time
- 5pm UK time
- Noon Eastern Time (New York)
- 9am Pacific Coast Time (LA)
The second meeting will take place on April 6, and will be an Eastern hemisphere meeting:
- 3pm Hong Kong / Taiwan
- 4pm South Korea
- 5:30pm Adelaide
- (8am Central European time)
This pattern will repeat itself every two weeks.
Please respond to this post if you want to join, or contact the workgroup leaders (@schuemie, @msuchard) directly.
