Hello everyone!!
I’m in the process of standardizing a dataset containing patients with prostate cancer. I have come across with the variable PI-RADS score, which to my understanding is a very important metric in prostate cancer cases. I was searching for a proper concept in Athena but I couldn’t find one.
I was very surprised that I didn’t find anything relevant except for BI-RADS score which is for breast cancer cases.
Is there something I missed?
Does the community plan to add a relevant variable?
Hi @manoshatzak -
The concept exists in source terminology (SNOMED), but it may be too new (?) to have made it into the OMOP vocbulary files.
Here’s the SNOMED concept id and FSN I think you’re looking for:
350501000146102 | Prostate Imaging-Reporting and Data System score (observable entity) |
I couldn’t find a concept in LOINC, but it may exist and I’m just not finding it.
Not sure how you do your mapping at your site, but we map everything we can to an industry standard code in our system, then use the omop vocabulary files to retrieve the corresponding omop concept id when we run the ETLs.
Also… you can always request new concept from LOINC and SNOMED when you need them. Happy to direct you to the right folks if you need help requesting a concept for either of those vocabularies.
Best,
Piper
