Logic Description :
Cohort Entry Events
People may enter the cohort when observing any of the following:
condition occurrences of ‘c difficile - condition’.
measurements of ‘c difficile - measurement’, with value as concept: “positive”, “positive for”, “positive/elevated”, “positive/elevated”, “positive/elevated”, “positive for c. difficile glutamate dehydrogenase and negative for toxins a+b”, “positive for c. difficile glutamate dehydrogenase and toxins a+b” or “positive/elevated”.
Limit cohort entry events to the earliest event per person.
Inclusion Criteria
- No c diff (condition) in history
Entry events having no condition occurrences of ‘c difficile - condition’, starting anytime prior to cohort entry start date.
- No c diff (by measurement) in history
Entry events having no measurements of ‘c difficile - measurement’, starting anytime prior to cohort entry start date; with value as concept: “positive for c. difficile glutamate dehydrogenase and negative for toxins a+b”, “positive for c. difficile glutamate dehydrogenase and toxins a+b”, “positive”, “positive for”, “positive/elevated”, “positive/elevated”, “positive/elevated”, “positive/elevated” or “positive/elevated”.
Cohort Exit
The person exits the cohort at the end of continuous observation.
Recommended Study Application: Outcome or Target
Assertion Statement: This cohort definition was executed on at least one real person-level observational health data source and resulted in a cohort with at least 1 person.
Clinical Description(s): Target surgical cohorts previously described / in the phenotype library. Non emergent (no ED visit) surgical encounters (via target surgery procedure occurrence) requiring inpatient stay. Condition occurrence of atrial fibrillation (first in patient’s history).
Evaluation Conclusion: Pending
** Note that in the evaluated data source (Stanford), the measurement concept gets no patients; counts are driven by c diff condition occurrence; peer review / external validation of this finding would be appreciated, as this may be related to a logical error in the definition, or related to the data source.
