Folks, I am speaking to the CDC and to Gates Foundation this month (for CDC “Genomics’ Place in Global Epidemiology”; for Gates "Precision Public Health & Genomics). Please ignore the ‘genomics’ aspect of these talks for purposes of this query. I would like to bring up examples of how OMOP CDM could be used as a global standard (if it’s not already) ex-first world for recording clinical patient-level data in an outbreak. Can anyone point me to examples, slides or research papers that have been done on this?
There was some work being done within the OpenMRS community to look to map
their open-source EHR system that is deployed throughout various
underserved countries to the OMOP CDM, and I know they had OHDSI tools up
and running at least on their development platform. I’m not sure if any of
that work got presented or published anywhere. Perhaps @pbiondich
or @suranga could share where things stand with that.
