OHDSI to Host a Collaborative Workshop at AMIA Annual Symposium 2023 - Volunteers Needed!

Hello OHDSI Community!

We are thrilled to announce that our workshop proposal, “OHDSI RWE Revolution: Igniting Data Modernization with Harmonized Standards for Cutting-Edge Health Research” has been accepted for the prestigious AMIA Annual Symposium 2023. This is an immense honor and testament to the quality and relevance of our work in observational health data science.

For those unfamiliar, the AMIA (American Medical Informatics Association) conferences serve as a gathering point for biomedical and health informatics professionals from across the globe. They’re crucial in guiding the direction of health informatics research and translating that research into tangible solutions for health care. With this acceptance, we stand shoulder-to-shoulder with leading experts in the field, disseminating knowledge that could shape the future of healthcare.

The 6.5-hour workshop will underscore the significance of Real-world evidence (RWE) in modern health research. It will focus on data collection, quality, and the utilization of the OMOP common data model in dealing with challenges arising from the diversity and volume of real-world data. We will delve into the details of cohort diagnostics, data transformation, and practical applications of cohort diagnostics in real-world scenarios.

To make this event a grand success, we’re seeking passionate OHDSI community members interested in participating in some of the demo sessions. These sessions will offer hands-on training on topics like data transformation, cohort discovery, and diagnostic techniques, all crucial elements for harnessing the full potential of RWE.

Here are the sessions where your expertise and assistance would be incredibly beneficial:

  1. Demo Session 1: “Rapid Analytical Cycles with RWE: Unleashing the Power of OMOP Data for Cohort Discovery and Characterization”
  2. Demo Session 2: “Cohort Crafting in Action: Mastering ATLAS and Cohort Discovery”
  3. Interactive Session 3: “Cohort Explorations Simplified: Real-World Case Studies (Group Based Activity)”
  4. Interactive Session 4: “Advanced Cohort Insight: Exploring Cohort Diagnostic and Visualization”
  5. Demo Session 5: “Cohort Explorations Unleashed: Population-level causal effect estimation and patient-level prediction using OHDSI’s HADES packages”

Being a part of these sessions will allow you to engage with other leading experts in the field, share your knowledge, and perhaps learn something new.

We believe this conference will elevate our community’s reputation and provide us with a unique opportunity to gain more insights and collaborate with other global experts in the field. Your participation in the demo sessions would be instrumental in achieving this goal.

If you’re interested in joining us, please reach out to Atif Adam (atif.adam@iqvia.com) before Thursday, August 10th, 2023.

I am planning to be at the symposium and could help.

Hey @Gowtham_Rao.
Thanks for volunteering! I will ping you privately with more details.

Hi @atifadam I will also be there for another panel so I would be happy to help if you need it

Hi @atifadam, these are great news! I’d love to participate as well!

Hi @atifadam I would be interested in helping with PLP section!
