Hi Maura,

I just joined OHDSI and will introduce myself at tomorrow’s meeting. I posted a collaboration opportunities in Forum Researchers category. How do I add it to the ‘upcoming collaboration opportunities?’

Thank you very much,

Yi

Welcome @yzhang! Looking forward to meeting you on today’s OHDSI call!

To add to our ‘upcoming collaboration opportunities’, you can post the details here in this thread and I’ll add it to the list of opportunities in my regular announcements.

Hi Maura,

Have the meeting already ended? I tried to join around 12:45, but the meeting ID (attendee code) didn’t work.

Yi

Hi Maura,

Sorry that I missed the meeting. Will try to join again next Tuesday. I introduced myself this morning by posting under ‘General’ but couldn’t find a way to upload my headshot.

I also posted a research idea yesterday looking for an OHDSI collaborator, but haven’t received a response yet. Recently, PCORI approved my new LOI for the project – Dissemination of PCORI Improving Methods Projects to Advance Precision Medicine and Patient-centered Care – and invites us to send in a full proposal due 8/12/2019. For this project, we intend to partner with OHDSI community for active dissemination of 4 PCORI HTE studies that can advance ‘personalized pharmacotherapy’ within the OHDSI community.

I have discussed this project with George previously and he’ll write a general OHDSI support letter. I really hope that I can find an OHDSI collaborator for this exciting project. Can you recommend a place under Forum that this project will fit and attract most viewers? I see there’re some working groups. Maybe I should join one of those that I see fit?

Many thanks for your help!!!

@yzhang:

Hold your horses. People saw this, trust me. The reason you haven’t seen any response is that the community is open and distributed. There is nobody, not even George, who speaks for the community. In other words, all collaborators have to decide for themselves whether or not they want to participate, and they all think "Well, interesting, but I can’t answer this, I am not the “OHDSI community”.

Instead, you may want to just create a strawman application and then ask who wants to chip in. You will get a ton of immediate responses.

Makes sense?

Thanks everyone for joining today’s OHDSI call, and a big thanks to @JMPark for joining us from Korea to share his work. Jimyung’s slides, as well as Mui’s slides on OHDSI in Japan, are available here: https://www.ohdsi.org/resources/presentations/community-meeting-presentations/

Hi Christian,

Thank you so much for your help. I’m new to OHDSI and don’t really know how things work here. Your response made lots of sense to me. I’ll go back and revise with clarifications.
