Source data lists a mother’s birth delivery method, and it distinguishes between primary C-section and repeat C-Section. C-section has a standard procedure_concept_id 4015701, repeat C-section has an observation_concept_id 4065739. For repeat C-section, should I create a record in both the PROCEDURE and the OBSERVATION Domains? This would allow me to query only the PROCEDURE table to get both first time and repeat C-section.
“Repeat C-section” is a typical snapshot data item. You only have one time, and that is now. If something refers to the past (e.g. a previous C-section) it needs to be part of the concept.
In OMOP, it is a C-section with the date it happened. The previous C-section is also just that, with the older timestamp. If you don’t know the timestamp you have to use Observation History of procedure.
