I suggest we have a thread dedicated to documenting local modifications to the CDM done to support a particular source data requirement or analytic functionality. This can supplement and inform officially proposed modifications.
Any good idea how such a thing would look like, since we don’t have a centralized structure to build functionality?
I think could be useful even if it is fairly informal and unstructured. If the documentation burden is to high it risks discouraging people from posting a description.
I would find it useful to hear, for example, simply that “At Stanford we added a table named [Y] that captures [type of data] and has fields [A, B, C.]. in order support [functionality X].”
People interested can follow-up with the poster to try to get more detail. I could imagine people discovering that they’ve made similar local modifications for similar reasons and starting to collaborate by reviewing the pros and cons of their approaches.
