Postdoctoral Position in Cardiovascular Disease Epidemiology and Data Science

Position details:
The DigitalCardioEpi Lab, within the Section of Cardiovascular Medicine at Yale School of Medicine and Yale Center for Outcomes Research and Evaluation (CORE), is seeking a talented and dedicated Postdoctoral Associate to join the research group led by Dr. Yuan Lu, Assistant Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine.

Our team focuses on advancing cardiovascular outcomes research, informing health policy, and applying big data analytics to improve patient care and population health. In this role, you will contribute to our mission of improving health outcomes through data-driven research. You will have the opportunity to work with diverse healthcare datasets, gain expertise in cardiovascular epidemiology, and collaborate with leading experts in the field.

Successful candidates will have the opportunity to:

  1. Conduct high-quality, data-driven original research at the intersection of cardiovascular medicine, health decision science, (pharmaco-)epidemiology, and public health.
  2. Contribute to manuscript preparation, grant applications, and presentations at national and international conferences.
  3. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of clinicians, statisticians, epidemiologists, and health policy experts.
  4. Engage in multi-institutional/multi-national research initiatives.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:

  1. PhD in epidemiology, health data science, or related fields. At least one first-author publication in a peer-reviewed journal, preferably using electronic health records or related population health datasets (PhD candidates nearing completion are also encouraged to apply).
  2. Strong background in epidemiological and statistical methods, including coursework and/or research experience.
  3. Proficiency in programming with large EHR datasets (e.g., using R, SQL, or Python).
  4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to work productive both independently and within collaborative teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience with Epic Cosmos data and/or OMOP common data model

Other Details:

  1. Salary will follow the Yale postdoctoral researcher salary scale .
  2. Initial appointment is for two years (contract will be on an annual basis), with potential renewal based on performance.
  3. Anticipated start date is flexible.
