Job description
As a clinical data engineer with specialization in OMOP and experience in working with underlying infrastucture, you will play an essential role in 2 research projects: the INTONATE project and the OPTIMA project.
INTONATE is a research project dedicated to understanding disease activity in multiple sclerosis (MS). The project will help to identify which patients benefit most from so called high efficacy treatments. It will leverage federated analysis approaches to combine data from multiple European sites.
The OPTIMA project aims to implement a federated and centralised network of European data providers to help answer the highest priority research questions in prostatee-, breast-, and lungcander. Further more, OPTIMA will develop comprehensive dynamic computer-interpretable guidelines to better support decision making by clinicians and patients.
You will be working on cutting edge technologies and at the forefront of medical science and healthcare, including federated learning, federated data acces, and privacy preserving data methods. Your job includes technical depth as well as breadth in interaction with colleagues in a multidisciplinary setting. Because of your efforts as a clinical data engineer, scientists at Erasmus MC, in The Netherlands, and in Europe will be able to easily access data and collaborate on cutting-edge research projects that will shape the future of healthcare.
Work environment
You will be working in a team of dedicated data engineers, who develop and maintain the Health Data Platform (the hospital data warehouse at Erasmus MC). The Health Data Platform team is the linking pin for all data operations at Eramus MC and support both healthcare and medical scientific research. The team also develops and implements new applications to support data utilization and strong data governance.
Moreover, you will collaborate closely with data stewards, data scientists, OMOP experts, and of course the research project teams of both projects.
Qualifications and skills
You have experience in working with OMOP data and bioinformatics, including the underlying infrastructues. You feel at home in an academic setting and understand the needs of researchers. You are curious and eager to learn and work with the latest technologies in health data. You have completed a higher education (HBO MSc or higher) in bio-informatics, bio-medical engineering, computer science, epidemiology, medical informatic or equivalent. You are able to communicate in fluent English, and understand Dutch. Knowledge and skills:
- Familiar with relational databases.
- Familiar with the OMOP common data model.
- Programming: SQL and Python.
- Infrastructural components such as Dockers and Kubernetes.
- Source code management with Git (optional).
- Automated software testing (optional).
- Agile software development (e.g. Azure DevOps, optional).
Terms of employment
- You will receive a contract for 1 year.
- The gross monthly salary amounts a maximum of € 5.504,- (scale 10) based on a fulltime working week of 36 hous.
- Partly working from home and working 4x9 hours is possible.
- Excellent fringe benefits, such as a 13th month that is already paid out in November and an individual travel expense package.
- Pension insurance with ABP, we take care of approximately 2/3 of the monthly contribution.
- Special benefits, such as an in-company physiotherapist and bicycle repairer. There is also a gym where you can work on your fitness after work.
