JOB POST: OMOP CDM EHR / SQL Solutions Engineer (Austin, TX)

Wanted to share a job posting for a HIE / SQL Solutions Engineer with OMOP CDM EHR experience in Austin, Texas, working on a 12-month contract (with potential extension) supporting Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC). The HIE/SQL Solution Engineer will support receiving, converting, and loading clinical data being sent to HHSC, as part of the Health Information Exchange (HIE) Connectivity Project, into the OMOP CDM EHR data architecture implemented on the Snowflake data cloud. Current clinical data includes Admission, Discharge, Transfer (ADT) messages and Consolidated Clinical Document Architecture (C-CDA). This data is delivered to HHSC in individual .xml and .csv files and is currently coming through a single source.

The converted data will be provided as a usable, searchable database for analytics purposes by Medicaid/HHSC programs, using the OMOP EHR database architecture.

Required Skills:

  • Experience with batch file programming
  • Experience designing and developing complex SQL scripts that are fast and efficient
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience as a system analyst for a data analytics, performance management system, or data warehousing project
  • Experience on an agile sprint team

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with HL7/FHIR data structures
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Business or equivalent experience.
  • Prior experience in the Healthcare Industry
  • Prior experience with an HHS agency
  • Prior experience working with PII or PHI data
  • Experience using Corepoint/Rhapsody
  • Experience with JIRA software
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Understanding of security principles and how they apply to healthcare data
  • Proven ability to write well designed, testable, efficient code by using best software development practices
  • Effectively manage multiple responsibilities, prioritize conflicting assignments, and switch quickly between assignments, as required
