Hi there I am a researcher at the Center for Clinical and Translational Science at MaineHealth Institute for Research and a data analyst in the National COVID Cohort Collaborative (N3). Deeply mired in the search for defining ICU status (as K. Kostka says, “…the ICU, it is not a place.”) To define “severity” without an ICU flag we are using mechanical ventilation and ECMO. Some want to use vasopressors but these medications are also used on step-down units, in the ORs, and ED. Is there a way to identify whether a patient is in the OR in OMOP? I don’t see it as a visit concept.
