German ICD10GM + OPS vocabulary outdated, update is needed for 2021 and 2022

Hi there,

the German version of ICD10 and the German procedures and operations vocabulary (OPS) are outdated and need to be updated. The update for the versions from 2021 and 2022 are missing, thus all German initiatives that are currently working on data transfer to OMOP are blocked. This is especially important for the EHDEN data partners in Germany as well as all members of the German Medical Informatics Initiative.

Thanks a lot. Ines

Hi together,
thanks, Ines, for that quite important note!
Our actually work at the Hannover Medical School as EHDEN data partner depends in some parts on the OPS versions from 2021 and 2022. The German procedures and operation vocabulary (OPS) and also die German ICD-10 version are essential and used for all German clinical data, that update is necessary for all members and data partner in Germany.
Thanks and greetings to all. Nicole

Hi Ines (@inesreinecke), thanks for the information. And thanks @nicole.h for providing a case!
ICD10-GM and OPS have not been included in the regular update / refresh cycle yet. Can you tell me how many other OHDSI collaborators are currently blocked and to what extent? Can we figure out a way how this can be facilitated, so that the effort for conversion, mapping and QA can be either distributed or for example by supporting the Columbia Coordination center we can find some funding for this?
Thanks - Mik

Hi Michael, (@mik), since we provide the OMOP infrastructure to the majority of the German University hospitals in several projects it is crucial to have at least the new/updated/invalid ICD10GM and OPS codes for 2021 and 2022 integrated soon. For the future we need to establish an approach that prevents us from running into that issue next years again and again.

Hello! The OPS vocabulary was updated on Jan 16, 2023. The update included both 2021 and 2022 versions.

Masha.
