Early adopters lessons learned - weekly meeting topic suggestion

As we transform our data into CDM shape and get the benefits (tools and larger analyses), it would be very interesting to learn from each other.

I would like to propose for some of the future general meetings to hear short presentations from OHDSI sites (early adopters). For example, those that provided data for the OHDSI Study 1 - Tx Pathways.

I am most interested in non-licensed (non-Tolven), EHR-ish data. For example, (if folks would be willing to do it) we could have a meeting with agenda like: Regenstrief 20 min, Stanford 20 min (my CDM installation and experience to date) + 20 min Q&A)

I am happy to describe the IMEDS lab, but this is more work of the IMEDS team putting together an AWS infrustructure, licensing the data from a data provider and an ETL into CDM . And, it is not EHR-ish but mostly claims.

I think this is a great idea. We (PEDSnet) are still relatively early in the process of populating the CDM, but will hopefully have something useful to contribute about the v4 - v5 migration sometime in February. Maybe we could team up with Daniella or George for a session on PCORI CDRN experiences with the CDM in the Spring? It’d be more of a data-centric than analysis-centric conversation, but perhaps worthwhile.

Sure, I believe we can put something together to talk about our experience in getting our data into CDM V5 shape.

Great idea @Vojtech_Huser. Count Regenstrief in on the discussion.

I have 1 active and 2 pending projects that are leveraging EPIC (3 sites) and Centricity EMR clinical data using CDM v5. We’re leveraging a couple of the new CDM features:

  • fact relationship for mother / father / children groups
  • specimens (we pushed for this addition to the model)
  • leveraging the full set of OHDSI ETL (rabbit) tools that are available and attempting to document a reproducible ETL guide for my team that may be useful to others.

I’m not ready to contribute to the presentation yet as delivery to customer (end of February) has to take precedence, but I would love to contribute what we’ve learned and descriptions of the customizations that we’re making on top of v5.

Bill
