Tagging from the PLP group meeting this past Wednesday.
During this week’s PLP WG meeting there was lengthy discussion on Federated Learning projects and the potential for future network studies. It just so happens that I have a friend who is working on a rather interesting project that might interest a lot of people on here.
It’s called dsOMOP
and is an integration between the OMOP CDM and the DataSHIELD project, for those familiar.
dsOMOP essentially makes it possible for a research center to create a secure interface into an SQL DB compliant with OMOP CDM. That means analysts can query, for example, how many patients are afflicted with a particular condition
or are on a certain drug
.
A word of caution: DataSHIELD as a framework is more focussed on meta-analysis styled studies rather than federated learning, neural-network style. But for those willing to commit, it should be possible to extend in that direction.
I will just drop the link to the project on GitHub for those interested:
And do feel to tag me if you’d like to learn more.
Have a nice weekend!
