Drug_type_concept_id for prescription proposals

Hi all,

I am Ágota from Semmelweis University. We are currently working on incorporating prescription proposals into our database.

In our system, certain medications can only be prescribed at a discounted rate by primary care physicians if a specialist has issued a prior proposal. These proposals have a start and end date.

Our question is about the appropriate drug_type_concept_id. Based on the vocabulary wiki, we are considering:

  • 32838 EHR prescription: Prescription record for a patient (Medication or Device)
  • 32833 EHR order: Physician order or request for a service, drug, or treatment

Use case:
In a diabetes study, specialists issue the prescription proposal for some antidiabetic drugs, but the actual prescription is written by the primary care physician. Since we do not have primary care data, we plan to include these proposals so that the relevant diabetes medications can still be captured in the analysis.

Any advice on the most appropriate drug_type_concept_id would be greatly appreciated!
