DRGs in CDM

Going off this topic, we are trying to figure out where to put the DRGs and we see the DOMAIN is OBSERVATION.

  1. DRGs are a date related VOCAB, but all the dates seem to be the same in the VOCAB. How do I associate the proper DRG to the time period of interest?
  2. Is there a standard vocabulary for OBSERVATION or can I use a DRG CONCEPT_ID for OBSERVATION_CONCEPT_ID?

#2 first: There is no standard vocabulary for OBSERVATION, so yes, you can
place a DRG CONCEPT_ID in the OBSERVATION_CONCEPT_ID field.

#1 : This is an issue to post on the Vocabulary github, so that we make
sure it gets baked into the Vocabulary ETL and release to have proper
VALID_START and VALID_END dates…
