DRG to CPT4 in relationship table

It would be very useful if vocabulary could add the relationship between DRG and CPT4 to the relationship table. This relationship does not appear to be currently supported.

Dear @cmeister Thank you for your suggestion about adding a relationship between DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) and CPT4 (Current Procedural Terminology) in the CONCEPT_RELATIONSHIP table.
Currently, the OMOP CDM organizes relationships between concepts based on well-established clinical and procedural connections. Both DRG and CPT4 are important coding systems used in healthcare settings, though they serve different purposes:

    • CPT4 is used to code medical procedures and services, which are typically linked to the treatments or services provided during a patient visit.
    • DRG is primarily used to group patients into categories based on their diagnoses and treatments, mainly for billing and reimbursement purposes.

At this point, there isn’t a direct relationship between them in the OMOP CDM.
However, there is an established relationship between DRG and MDC (Major Diagnostic Categories) vocabularies, as MDC is used to group DRGs by broader clinical conditions. This relationship may be of interest to you as a potential starting point for further exploration.
However, this is a great suggestion, and it’s definitely worth exploring.
If you have any data showing a relationship between DRG and CPT4, we would love for you to share it with the community as a contribution. It could be very helpful for others as well.
Thanks again for your input!

Thanks Tetiana - we will look into this and see if there’s a way to provide additional info on this.
