In review data associated to 201606-Crohn's disease
@rmakadia and @Jill_Hardin noticed a huge increase in patients in Oct 2015 in our claims data sets. This of course is the exact month/day that most of our database converted from ICD9 to ICD10.
In investigating the codes associated to it and its’ descendants we noticed that the increase patient count was mostly due to codes falling under K57-Diverticular disease of intestine
.
[Question 1]
Could someone give an opinion on if this Crohn’s/Diverticulosis relationship is appropriate? I can see why they might get entangled but is there no better home in the SNOMED Vocabulary?
Example:
K57.30-Diverticulosis of large intestine without perforation or abscess without bleeding
Maps To
201606-Crohn's disease
[Question 2]
However there also seem to be some ICD10s that do not map in the similar pattern seen above.
K57.20-Diverticulitis of large intestine with perforation and abscess without bleeding
Maps To Both
46269838 Abscess of intestine co-occurrent and due to chronic ulcerative pancolitis
46269951 Abscess of intestine co-occurrent and due to ulcerative colitis
Neither of which are children of 201606-Crohn's disease
.
