CPT 99070 - omop concept domain

Hello,
We noticed that CPT 99070 is assigned an omop concept in the observation domain. In our system, this CPT code is associated with local procedure codes in two locally defined categories: ‘DME’ and ‘Supply’.

Is there a reason the omop concept_id was not defined in the device domain?

CPT Description: Supplies and materials (except spectacles), provided by the physician or other qualified health care professional over and above those usually included with the office visit or other services rendered (list drugs, trays, supplies, or materials provided)

Thanks in advance for any insight,
Piper

@piper:

99070 “Supplies and materials (except spectacles), provided by the physician or other qualified health care professional over and above those usually included with the office visit or other services rendered (list drugs, trays, supplies, or materials provided)” is a catch-all reimbursement code. It does not say anything concretely what actually was exposed to the patient. From an analytical perspective useless. Those things we put into the “garbage can” (OBSERVATION table).

Makes sense?

Yes, makes sense
We just need to map our local codes to the appropriate, more granular concept.
Thanks @Christian_Reich
