Connecting procedures to conditions in the same visit

Say a patient visit includes 2 procedures (let’s call them A and B) and two conditions (1 & 2) where procedure A relates to condition 1 and procedure B relates to condition 2. Since all 4 are under the same visit, is there an accepted way of indicating the procedure-condition connections?

First question, is there a need to associate procedure A with condition 1 and B with 2. The association is not used in OHDSI analyzes and as result, the procedure-condition connection is not part of the data model. However, if the need exists locally you have a couple of options. 1) use the fact relation ship table, or 2) add a couple of columns to the Procedure table similar to Measurement or Observation that can reference back to the condition.

In addition to what Don explained, you seemed to indicate in your example the relationship as ‘at the same visit’. So, you could mark all those occurrence records with the same visit_occurrence_id to indicate they are together.
