[Collaborators Wanted] NIH R21/R33 Partnership: Scaling OMOP in Ghana (Pilot Active at Narh-Bita Hospital)

Hello OHDSI Community,

I am a Senior Research Fellow at the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research (Ghana) and CEO of Yori Analytica. We are currently piloting an OMOP CDM implementation at Narh-Bita Hospital in Tema, Ghana, to transform unstructured clinical data into a standardized research language.

We are targeting the NIH PAR-25-242 (mHealth in LMICs) grant to scale this work into a “Ghana Health Intelligence Network.” We have the clinical site, the active ETL pipeline, and the institutional support of Noguchi.

We are looking for a US-based Academic PI/Institution to lead the application or partner.

Following a discussion with George Hripcsak, he suggested I reach out here to find partners interested in global health data standardization and predictive analytics in West Africa.

If you are interested in leading or partnering on this phased innovation award, please comment below or DM me.

Please come to the next OHDSI Africa Chapter meeting and introduce yourself. You may find interested collaborators.

Dear OHDSI Africa Community,

We are excited to invite you to tomorrow’s OHDSI Africa Chapter Bi-Weekly Meeting, featuring a special presentation by Dorothy Mailosi from CODATA.

Dorothy will present on:

“A Standardized Research Pipeline Using HDSS Verbal Autopsy Data, OMOP CDM, EXTERNAL_EXPOSURE GIS Extension, and the OHDSI Analysis Workbench: Karonga HDSS Use Case, Malawi”

This session will provide valuable insights into how standardized data approaches and OHDSI tools are being applied in a real-world African context to strengthen health data research and analysis. The presentation will explore the integration of HDSS verbal autopsy data, OMOP CDM, GIS exposure extensions, and the OHDSI Analysis Workbench, using the Karonga HDSS use case in Malawi.

Whether you are interested in health data standardization, OMOP CDM implementation, observational research, GIS integration, or strengthening research capacity in Africa, this is a session you will not want to miss.

We strongly encourage all members, researchers, implementers, students, and partners to join us and engage in what promises to be an insightful and practical discussion.
