CohortDiagnostics monthly development meeting

I am organizing Monthly Developer Meeting focused on the CohortDiagnostics package. This is a new meeting series where I intend to allow developers to align on the functionality of the package to ensure that the rapidly growing number of users will not be significantly negatively impacted by any changes.

Note that this meeting is not intended for those simply developing phenotype algorithms. The OHDSI phenotype workgroup is the forum for this type of discussion.

Purpose of the Meeting:

  • Discuss recent and upcoming changes in the CohortDiagnostics package.
  • Collaborate on developing new features and enhancements.
  • Explore API/tooling integrations with other applications.

This meeting is intended for those interested in actively developing or integrating CohortDiagnostics into other systems. For feature requests or issues, please continue to use our GitHub issue tracker.

Agenda for first meeting (subject to change):

  • Release planning for version 3.4.0 (non compatibility breaking release)

    • Changing input specifications

    • Feature requests/additions

    • Removal of ‘CohortRelationships’ feature and replacement options

  • Roadmap planning for version 4.0.0 (breaking changes)

    • Moving shiny app components to package (away from OhdsiShinyModules)

    • Exposing reporting tools

  • Darwin EU report from recent sprint[date=2024-11-27 timezone=“America/Vancouver”]

Please email me (gilbert@ohdsi.org) if you would like to be included in these discussions. Please note, this is not intended to be a forum for new users and discussions will be technical and assume a base level of knowledge for the package.

Just a note to say that we had another development meeting today. It was brief as I have been away for the last 6 weeks. Topics covered included:

  • Planning the 3.4.0 release for Q1
  • Creating a 4.0.0 version that will include many requested features (with a alpha release intended in Q2 2025)
  • Plans to promote this development, providing opportunities for new developers and testers
  • Better organization for this group within the HADES MS teams channel

Please don’t be afraid to get involved in future meetings and/or posting your issues or pull requests on our github.
