CMS RIF to OMOP ETL?

A question from @dckc on github (https://github.com/OHDSI/ETL-CMS/issues/45): better to be discussed here:

This doesn’t support RIF, does it? Is there a repository nearby that does? I don’t see one.

context: I’m working on CMS RIF to i2b2 (https://github.com/kumc-bmi/grouse) and considering going via OMOP.

@Mark_Danese, @clairblacketer, @jenniferduryea ,@ericaVoss : didn’t your workgroup document somewhere the differences between SynPUF and RIF? I couldn’t find it, but I could have sworn I saw it so I think I’m looking in the wrong place…

It does not but the specs should be helpful. I can’t attach a pdf here so this is a link to the github issue with the pdf file:

@Patrick_Ryan - I vaguely remember us talking about jotting down the differences (because we wanted to understand better the difference between what we had access to and what @jenniferduryea, @Mark_Danese, & @aguynamedryan have access to). But I cannot find any emails or documents from when we worked with on this. I think Jen might have just discussed it over the phone one day. :frowning:

I have uploaded a presentation to the github account here I made to the OHDSI CMS ETL workgroup in Feb 2015, which gives a broad overview of the differences between SynPUF and other Medicare datasets. Please see the link. As far as I know, this is the only documentation of that meeting we had.
