CDM version 5.0 - Relationship between Branded drug and indications deleted

Can you please help us understand why relationship between Branded Drug and Indications have been removed in CDM version 5.0. We we using this information in our reporting and semantic search tools.
Details: concept_relationship
relationship_id IN ( ‘May be treated by’, ‘May be prevented by’, ‘Has FDA-appr ind’) and r.invalid_reason is null
Only generic and OTC brands have valid indications mapped to drugs in CDM version 5.0

Thanks in advance.

@Asha_Mahesh:

We are not removing anything. that’s what the sources do (ETC, NDFRT). We just bring that in.

However, you can use the CONCEPT_ANCESTOR table, and there you will have all the connections between indications and branded products.

Thanks for your response. Using Concept_ancestor will not help. The main relationship flag “Has FDA-appr ind” has been deleted for branded drugs. Do you have the SQL for Concept_ancestor. I tried the one I had and didn’t work because records with relationship_id “Has FDA-appr ind” for branded drugs have been deprecated.

Yes, that’s a known weakness. There is a workaround though: What you want to do is to go to the Clinical Drugs using the СONCEPT_RELATIONSHIP records, and then continue to the Branded ones using the CONCEPT_ANCESTOR ones. Let me know if that works, or if you need more help.
