Responding to a demand for more comprehensive representation of races and ethnicities, @MPhilofsky and @Piper-Ranallo led the initiative to collect races and ethnicities across the network and together with the Vocabulary Team came up with a list of new proposed standard concepts.
We now ask the community to weight in. The spreadsheet contains new races and ethnicities, specifically it proposes to add ‘Latino OR Hispanic’ as a race along with the existing ethnicity concept. ETLers, therefore, will be able to chose to store the source records of ‘Hispanic or Latino’ in either race_concept_id or ethnicity_concept_id in PERSON table depending on what their source data says.
