Adding a calculated variable to MEASUREMENT

We would like to add an ETL calculated CCI score to the measurement table. It looks like the correct concept for this would be 42538860.

How do we document the fact that this is a derived value and not directly from the EHR? I can’t find any standard Type concepts that include “derived” or “calculated”. What is the best practice for this?

Well, until we make this calculation a standard requirement of ETLing to OMOP it is not considered data, but a result or a metric. People calculate it (e.g. like this) as part of an analysis, often as an interim result. We could certainly add it, and it wouldn’t be a bad thing. You should appeal to the CDM Working Group.

And yes, 42538860 is the right measurement_concept_id and Standard algorithm would be the measurement_type_concept_id.

In registry and clinical study context, (think SDTM → AdAM), this issue comes up all the time.

If marked with proper type concept, it does make sense.
