About enabling indication vocabulary

Hi,

I have access to First DataBank indication, but I realized the vocabulary (19 Indication Indications and Contraindications (FDB)) is disabled at athena (when creating the bundle).

Can somebody walk me through the process of how to enable the vocabulary? timeline, etc.

Esteban:

There are a few proprietary vocabularies in the OHDSI Standardized Vocabularies. They are either coding systems used in source data, which need mapping to standard concepts so you can use the data in the OMOP CDM, or they are classification systems.

First Databank’s Indications and Contraindications or their drug coding system GCNSEQNO is an example of those.

OHDSI does not issue proprietary licenses. You need to obtain (and potentially pay for) a license from the vendor. Once you have that we would enable the license in Athena and you can acces the data for browsing or download.

Makes sense?

Thanks Christian, that clears it up

One follow-up: we have a temporary/evaluation license from First Databank to assess whether the Indications/Contraindications vocabulary fits our use case before committing to a full license. Assuming FDB grants that for 60 days:

  • What proof of license do you need on the OHDSI side to enable the vocabulary in Athena for our account? (e.g., a copy of the executed agreement, a confirmation email from FDB, a license ID?)
  • Is there a standard intake process or form, or should I just reply here once we have it?
  • Does the enablement cover the trial window only, or is it tied to whatever expiration date appears on the FDB license?

Want to make sure I have the right artifacts ready when I approach FDB so we don’t lose time on the back-and-forth. Thanks!
