Obesity Concept

I noticed there has been a change in the vocabulary and obesity is no longer a condition but an observation. Is there any reason for this change?

I have been running a study on obesity for several months and my results have been incorrect for some time as I was not aware of this change. It looks like schemas from 2018 Q2 are the ones reflecting this update.

People should be aware obesity will now be found as a condition in old schemas and as an observation in the new ones. Is there any way the community could be notified of future changes of this nature?

Hi Margarita,

to which concept are you specifically referring?

There are several concepts from the Condition domain describing an obesity condition: http://athena.ohdsi.org/search-terms/terms?domain=Condition&standardConcept=Standard&invalidReason=Valid&page=2&pageSize=15&query=obesity

Hi Alberto,

I am referring to the following concept:

concept_id: 433736
concept_name: Obesity
domain_id: Condition
vocabulary_id: SNOMED
concept_class_id: Clinical Finding
standard_concept: S

@MFernandez-Chas
Right now it is a Condition: http://athena.ohdsi.org/search-terms/terms/433736
On a broader note: there are changes in the vocab in each release. We will definitely post updates or major changes in each release, let us just start. On the other hand, small details like changing the domain for particular concepts won’t be posted: it will make a report complicated, hard to read etc. What most of the people need are some high-level details: if you need to track particular concepts, run the checks on releases, as @ericaVoss does.
