Why is there no value_source_value column in Observation? Like there is in Measurement? We have a use case where we need to track the provenance from the source system of entries in the value_ columns in the Observation table. Like we can in the Measurement table. Is this simply an oversight?
Hello @mgurley, I would bet the keepers of the OMOP CDM would say that the column observation.value_as_string
is intended for this purpose.
But you’re correct that there aren’t columns observation.value_source_value
and observation.value_as_source_concept_id
as the usual expected companions to the observation.value_as_concept_id
column.
Don’t go into the betting game, @quinnt. That field really gives you a verbatim value of the result. I am not happy with that field. We should have no verbatim fields, except in NOTE. Every verbatim field is prone to re-identification.
But: We got this issue covered, @mgurley. And it rematerialized last year again.
