UMLS license flag on vocabulary table

Hi all,

Would it be possible to add an additional column to the v5 vocabulary table that would indicate whether the terminology is available to UMLS licensees? This is not a USA-specific request, as the NLM issues UMLS licenses internationally and they’re quite handy to verify that a user is authorized to view/use the specific terminology.

No that’s fine as are most of the terminologies you’re using. However there are a few that I think we would need to block access to like:

  • Multilex
  • Medi-Span Generic Product Identifier
  • Oxford Medical Information System
  • Gemscript
  • ETC

For some of the others the pedigree isn’t clear to me but may be alternately available via UMLS licensing (and covered by the legal equivalent of a transitive theory…)

You will have a download page where you can pick and choose. No need to avoid anything.

BTW: Oxmis is free. Gemscript we are still trying to figure out. Multilex will go away.
