Transplant Waitlist Status in ATLAS

Good morning,
First of all, hello! I am with the University Health Transplant Institute in Texas and we are new to using the ATLAS/HADES environments.
I am building cohorts requested by our doctors and am having trouble figuring out how to add a waitlist status for a transplant organ (kidney/liver/lung). Statuses include active, active follow-up, approved, declined, referred, inactive, ineligible, internal hold, removed.

Would I need to create a new concept set for each status and add it to the cohort definition as an observation in the cohort entry events? Or would it be considered an inclusion criteria?

Thank you for your help!

Jackie

Thank you for your question @JackieMedellin . Handling transplant waitlist statuses in cohort definitions depends on how these statuses relate to the cohort’s objectives and structure. If you need specific transplant statuses as criteria for defining eligibility or entry, you can create concept sets of observations for each status and add it in the cohort entry events. If the objective is to select only certain statuses and to determine the impact of the criteria on the persons from the initial event cohort, apply them as inclusion criteria instead. You can also consider ‘restrict initial events’ if you want to reduce your base population to a smaller subset before applying inclusion criteria as seen in this post in the Researchers Forum. Kindly also refer to the Researchers Forum for more ATLAS-related concerns. Thank you, and I hope that this can be of help
