Missing NDC code for COVID-19 Home Test Kits

Hi,

I’m working on my ETL for the CDMv5.4, and I have some NDC codes that I would like to know if they were simply omitted or if I should not use them for some reason:

NDC:
11877001126 (n=25K)
11877001140 (n=25k)

To make sure that these could be valid NDCs, i search for them, and i found them here:

In this situation, would you create new concepts for these?

Yes, NDCs constantly get washed ashore that we don’t get through our sources, simply because there is no one authority holding them. The FDA gave up on that in the 1980ies. Now, companies make them up as they go. So, they need to be submitted by the community (= you). You can do that through what is called the Simple Community Contribution.

You may also want to think about mapping to some standard concept. Such a kit is a Device in the OMOP CDM, but it looks like we currently have no covoid test strips. So, you could submit yours as Standard Concepts, which would make this a Complex Community Contribution.
