How do local Source Concepts relate to source_to_concept_map?

On the wiki page for source_to_concept_map (http://www.ohdsi.org/web/wiki/doku.php?id=documentation:cdm:source_to_concept_map), under the Conventions section, there is the following sentence:

“However, local Source Concepts are established (concept_id values above 2,000,000,000).”.

Is this saying that if I add a concept to the Concept table, that I should start at concept_id 2,000,000,001?

Yes, exactly. Then you are guaranteed that the public concept_ids will never touch yours. However, the public IDs are not likely to come close 2 Billion any time soo. Right now we are at 40 Million, and we have gigantic gaps, and we have the request from people to fill those gaps in order to better facilitate in-memory analytics. So, that’s the situation.
