We are hiring a Sr. Scientist I, Translational Genetics & Real-World Evidence to join our Translational Genetics & Data Science (TGDS) group at Arrowhead Pharmaceuticals in San Diego.
I wanted to share this opportunity with the OHDSI community because an important part of what we are trying to build sits directly at the intersection of human genetics, observational health data, quantitative translational science, and drug development.
As population-scale biobanks increasingly connect genomic information with longitudinal EHR and other real-world clinical data, we have an opportunity to move beyond genetic association and ask more translational questions: How do genetic perturbations influence disease trajectories in real-world populations? Can we use longitudinal clinical data to better characterize genetically defined phenotypes, comorbidities, biomarkers, treatment patterns, and patient subgroups? How can genetics and RWE together strengthen target validation, indication selection, biomarker strategy, clinical development, and on-target safety assessment?
We are particularly interested in scientists who are comfortable working with large-scale longitudinal clinical datasets and/or biobanks, think carefully about phenotype definition and observational study design, and want to develop new analytical frameworks connecting genetic evidence with clinically meaningful outcomes.
Experience does not need to fit one narrow profile. Strong backgrounds in RWE, epidemiology, biostatistics, health data science, human genetics, computational biology, OMOP/OHDSI, or related quantitative disciplines could all be highly relevant. What matters most is rigorous quantitative thinking, scientific curiosity, and an interest in translating complex human data into evidence that can influence drug-development decisions.
