I am the Industry Leader for Health & Life Science at Cloudera. I started in analytics in 1995 and saw the light and got involved in healthcare in 2009, co-leading Netezza's Health & Life Science $40M business unit. When IBM bought Netezza, I joined IBM for 2.5 years and worked with their Big Data group and also their Healthcare people. At Cloudera, I set the direction for strategy, marketing, solutions, partners and collaborations for our practice, which includes (in 2016) over 90 subscription customers. Circa 2009 I became involved with OMOP, FDA Mini-Sentinel (PCORI didn't exist really) as we had many customers looking for open models for longitudinal claims data.
