Dr Usman Iqbal (Doctor of Pharmacy, MBA Healthcare Management, PhD Health Informatics) is working as an Assistant Professor and Digital Health Consultant at Taipei Medical University. He is a focused and goal-oriented Digital Health professional with excellent networking skills, having garnered extensive experience collaborating with diverse stakeholders and leading innovative approaches using Health Information Technology to improve the Quality of Care, Patient Safety and related research.

As an academician and Digital Health consultant, Dr Usman has continued throughout his Global Health Informatics based academic career, to ensure diverse stakeholders’ relevance and pragmatism. Dr Usman is a Fellow of Australasian Institute of Digital Health, Australasian College of Health Service Management and the Royal Society of Public Health. Dr.Usman is Editor - International Journal for Quality in Health Care journal from Oxford University Press which is an official journal of International Society of Quality in Health Care (ISQua). Associate Editor – Computer Methods and Programs in Biomedicine Journal – Elsevier and recently joined BMJ Healthcare and Informatics journal.

Dr Usman’s research interests includes Digital Health/eHealth, Health Data and Informatics, Health Care Quality and Management, as well as Health IT to improve the Quality of care in resource poor settings, Patient safety, Artificial Intelligence in Medicine and its Clinical Application and Global and Public health. He successfully secured research grants as the main and co-principal investigator from various public and private funding agencies. He supervised postgraduate students and successfully graduated them. He has over 125 research publications in prestigious international journals, including editorials, authored book chapters, and conference abstracts and papers. He has made, or contributed to invited talks, session chairs, conferences, workshops or seminar presentations, and mentor the events like Hackathon and Datathon to national and international academic and industry audiences. He is passionate about presentations and has had the pleasure of being invited to visit several cities across four continents as a funded Keynote.

Observational health data, such as data from insurance claims and electronic health records, are a rich source of information. Taipei Medical University is one of an OHDSI international collaborative that is also developing and applying informatics solutions to be able to generate evidence from this data on a large scale. Dr.Usman is currently working on Pharmacoepidemiology by using observational health data.
